Toni Slaughter's 16 points and 12 rebounds gave her the first double-double of her career.

CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Toni Slaughter picked up her first career double-double to lead the University of Cincinnati to a 55-45 win over Loyola Marymount on Tuesday evening at Fifth Third Arena.

The win evened UC?s record at 5-5, while LMU dropped its fourth-straight to fall to 4-6.

Slaughter scored a game-high 16 points and a career-best 12 rebounds. Anne Stephens added her fourth career double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Micah Harvey added 11 points as UC held a 41-26 advantage on the boards and scored 16 second-chance points.

?We outrebounded a team for a change,? said head coach Laurie Pirtle, ?and that certainly helps. Our offense was not that good tonight but we defended and we rebounded. Those are the things we can control.?

UC held the Lions to just 25 percent shooting in the second half making 43.5 percent itself. The Bearcats made a season-low two three-pointers, but held LMU to three triples and shot 17-of-23 (.739) from the line.

Tied at 24-24 at the half, Slaughter scored the first three points of the second half and had five points in a 9-2 run that opened up a 33-26 lead.

A three-point play by Amanda Patton closed LMU to 35-33 with 9:18 to go, but Stephens and Slaughter scored the next six points to push it back to an eight-point margin.

A three-pointer by Jenni Smith was LMU?s only field goal for over seven minutes after Patton?s score as UC went up 47-36 with four minutes to go.

The Bearcats made six-of-eight free throws in the final two minutes to hold the lead.

Cincinnati is off for eight days for Christmas and returns to action at Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday, Dec. 29 at 6 pm CT.

Slaughter scored five of UC?s first seven points and Mary Turner scored LMU?s first four as the teams found themselves tied at 7-7 with 14:38 to go. Jackie Woods then scored two quick baskets to key a 9-2 run by the Lions.

Amanda Decoud had the final three points of the run to give LMU a 16-9 advantage at the 7:49 mark.

The UC offense, which had not scored for over four minutes, got on track thanks to a Harvey lay-in. That sparked an 11-2 Bearcat run that featured a three by Harvey and a steal and lay-up by Leslie Knoch.

UC held LMU to one basket over a six minute stretch to take a 21-18 lead with 2:13 left in the half.

Turner, who led the Lions with eight points in the first half, hit a jumper with three seconds left to send the teams to the lockerrooms tied at 24-24.

The Bearcats shot just 8-of-24 from the field in the first half, but outrebounded LMU, 18-12, and scored six second-chance points. The teams combined for 19 turnovers.

Harvey led UC with eight points at the break and Slaughter had five rebounds.
