Treasure Humphries scored eight points in her first game of the year.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ? The University of Cincinnati was held to a season-low for points as the Bearcats fell at Middle Tennessee State, 64-47, on Wednesday night in the Murphy Center.

The Bearcats (5-6) shot .308 from the floor, and just 6-of-26 (.231) in the second half. They did force 23 turnovers and made a season-best 14 steals, but the Lady Raiders (7-4) made 12-of-18 shots from the field in the second half.

Anne Stephens led UC with 12 points and Toni Slaughter added 10. Ashley Brown grabbed a team-best seven rebounds and Micah Harvey had five assists.

In her first action of the year after tearing her ACL in September, sophomore Treasure Humphries scored eight points with two steals.

Patrice Holmes scored a game-high 17 points for MTSU, while Tia Stovall had 15 points and six rebounds.

Stephens started strong for UC, scoring eight points in the first five minutes as the Bearcats led 12-8 with 13:45 to go in the first half.

UC managed just one field goal over the next eight minutes as the home team went on a 12-2 run. Holmes had eight of the points, including a three-pointer and a three-point play that helped MTSU to a 20-14 lead with 6:06 left.

Leslie Knoch and Slaughter made threes to keep UC in the game and the score was 28-22 at the break.

The Lady Raiders put the game away immediately in the second half, scoring the first 10 points to take a 38-22 lead after two and a half minutes.

Humphries ended the run with her first points of the season on a three-pointer. After Stephens cut the lead to 40-27 with 15:29 to go, the Bearcats were held to four field goals over the rest of the game.

MTSU scored the next 10 points to up the advantage to 50-27 at the 12:41 mark. The Bearcats responded with the next six points, but would get no closer for the rest of the game.

The Bearcats return home to host SEC foe Arkansas on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. in Fifth Third Arena.
