James White and the Bearcats open Conference USA play on Thursday.

CINCINNATI, Ohio--The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team dropped slightly in the two major polls this week after a loss to No. 1-ranked Illinois in the championship game of the Las Vegas Holiday Classic on December 31.

In the ESPN/USA Today coaches Top 25 poll, the Bearcats fell three spots to No. 20, while in the Associated Press rankings, UC dropped only one place to No. 23. Illinois, No. 1 in both polls, knocked the Bearcats from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 67-45 win over UC last week in Las Vegas.

Cincinnati, 11-1, returns to action on Thursday, January 6 when DePaul pays a visit to Fifth Third Arena for a 7:00 p.m. EST tipoff. The UC-DePaul game is the Conference USA opener for both teams as the Bearcats begin their quest to win their ninth league championship in their 10th and final season in C-USA. Next year, UC will be a member of the BIG EAST Conference.

Tickets are still available for the DePaul game and fans can order them online at www.ucbearcats.com or by calling the UC Athletic Ticket Office at 513-556-CATS. The ticket office is open daily from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. and is located in One Edwards Center on the UC campus.
