University of Cincinnati junior swimmer Ann Degenstein has been named Conference USA Swimmer of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 30, the conference announced today. Degenstein's honor marks just the fourth time that a Cincinnati swimmer has captured the weekly accolade in the three-year history of C-USA swimming.
Degenstein recorded three individual event wins in the Bearcats? dual meet on Jan. 29. The junior won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.48, the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:06.71, which is the eighth fastest time in C-USA this season, and the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:25.54. Degenstein finished the dual meet accounting for 27 of the Bearcats? 98.5 points.
Degenstein currently ranks 12th nationally in both the 100 and 200 butterfly, holding the C-USA record in each event and the school record in the 200.
Degenstein and the Bearcats will tune up for the Conference USA Championships this weekend as they travel to Kentucky for a meet with the Wildcats on Feb. 5.
