Indoor Track Heads to Findlay

The University of Cincinnati Indoor Track and Field team will travel to Findlay, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 4 to compete at the Fazoli?s Open.
LAST TIME OUT: The UC Indoor Track and Field team finished first at the BGSU Quintangular on Jan. 28 in Bowling Green, Ohio. The Bearcats captured seven event crowns, outscoring host Bowling Green, Toledo, Youngstown State, and IPFW. Jo Young (weight throw), Renee Hein (high jump), Shintara Carpenter (triple jump), and Brittney Klima (pole vault) each nabbed the top spots in their respective events. UC?s Erin Leeper, a transfer from Bowling Green, won the 400 meter dash in 57.22. Freshman Dominique Davis captured the 600 meter title in 1:38.72, while the Bearcats? 4x400 relay team captured the event crown (3:57.50).
THROW, JO: Senior Jo Young, the UC record holder in both the indoor and outdoor shot put, has started her senior season strong, capturing three of the four events she has competed in. At the Hoosier Classic on Jan. 15, Young won both the shot put and the weight throw. At Bowling Green, she took home the shot put crown, helping the Bearcats to a team championship.
FRESH FEATS: Freshmen Dominique Davis and Brittney Klima have made their presence felt early in the season.
Davis won the 600 meter title at the BGSU Quintangular in 1:38.72, placing her second on the all-time UC performance list.
Klima has cleared 10? 11 3/4? in the pole vault, also second on UC?s all-time list.
HEIN BREAKS UC RECORD: Sophomore Renee Hein entered the season fourth on the all-time UC high jump list with a 5? 6? leap. She has topped that mark in each of her competitions this season, winning the event at each meet, and set a school record with a 5? 8 3/4? high jump at the BGSU Quintangular.
COMING UP: The Bearcats will head to Akron, Ohio to compete in the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by the University of Akron.
