CINCINNATI, Ohio ? The University of Cincinnati did not lose a set in shutting out Akron, 7-0, in women?s tennis action on Saturday afternoon at Five Seasons Country Club. The win improved UC?s record to 2-2, while Akron fell to 3-4.
The Bearcats swept through the doubles matches losing only four games. Senior Samantha Liu and Cristina Reyes combined for an 8-2 win at No. 1, while sisters Jill and Julie Klauck won, 8-0, at No. 2. Bearcat newcomers Lindsay Brown and Madison Reasoner teamed for the first time and won, 8-2, at No. 3.
In singles play, Reyes defeated Amy Sherlock, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1 and Jill Klauck lost just one game in defeating Mindy Price at No. 2. Liu followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Stephanie Miles and Julie Klauck topped Laura Hemlepp, 6-2, 7-5. Brown and Reasoner followed with wins to close out the sweep.
The Bearcats host Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Feb. 6 at Noon, also at Five Seasons.
