MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Klauck sisters came up winners for Cincinnati, but the Bearcats fell at Ball State, 5-2, in women?s tennis action on Friday afternoon at the Muncie YMCA.
UC fell to 2-4 with the loss, while the Cardinals won their fifth straight in climbng to 5-1.
BSU swept three close doubles matches to earn the first point. Jenny Batty and Jessica Thompson edged Samantha Liu and Cristina Reyes, 8-6, at No. 1, while at No. 3, UC?s Lindsay Brown and Madison Reasoner lost, 9-7, to Haly Calderwood and Allison Thompson.
In singles play, Jill Klauck at No. 2 and Julie Klauck at No. 4 earned straight-set wins to pull UC within 3-2. The Cardinals, however, were able to clinch the match when Stephanie Farrar outlasted Brown, 7-6(4), 6-3, at the No. 5 spot.
The Bearcats continue their Indiana swing tomorrow, taking on Indiana State on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. CT.
