CINCINNATI, Ohio ? Jill Klauck won her third-straight match, but Cincinnati was able to get no more as the Bearcats fell to Eastern Michigan, 6-1, in tennis action on Sunday at Five Seasons Country Club.
Klauck, who improved to 6-2 in dual matches, defeated Elizabeth Syrova, 7-6(2), 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Jill also teamed with her sister, Julie, to win at No. 3 doubles, 9-7. The duo has won four of its last five matches.
EMU won at No. 1 and 2 doubles to earn the doubles point and held a 2-1 advantage after Klauck?s win. UC?s Samantha Liu took the first set from Vanessa Frankowski at No. 3, but succumbed in a third-set tie-breaker, 2-6, 6-4, 7-6(2). Lindsay Brown at No. 5 also won her first set, but fell in three, 3-6, 6-3, 10-8.
The Bearcats dropped to 3-5 with the loss and return to action with three matches next weekend, starting with hosting No. 61 Auburn at Five Seasons on Friday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.
