COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Jo Young and Renee Hein won individual titles as the University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team competed at the Scarlet and Gray Invitational today at Ohio State's French Fieldhouse.
Young won the shot put crown, her seventh title in nine events this season, unleashing a 48' 7-1/4" throw, her second best of the season. Young also finished fourth in the weight throw with a personal-best 57' 10-1/2", the first time in five meets this season that she has not won the event.
Hein again won the high jump, clearing 5' 7". She has won four individual titles in the high jump this season.
Other notable performers included Ije Obiorah, who finished second in the long jump (17' 4") and posted a personal-best in the triple jump (35' 10-3/4").
There were no team scores and UC fielded only 11 athletes in their final tune-up for next weekend's Conference USA Championships. The C-USA Indoor Championships get underway on Feb. 25 in Houston's Yeoman Fieldhouse at 1 p.m.
