Bearcats Capture Four Titles on Day Two

HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams grabbed five event championships on day two of the Conference USA Women's Championship and Men's Invitational today at Houston's CRWC Natatorium.
Ann Degenstein won the 500 freestyle in an NCAA provisional-qualifying time of 4:51.71. Degenstein also won the preliminaries earlier in the day, posting a 4:52.41.
The women currently sit in sixth place with 14 events remaining.
For the men, David Gustavsson won the 200 IM for the second straight year, finishing in 1:49.96. He also won the prelims earlier in the day.
Ryan Yearwood won his second consecutive 50 freestyle crown, posting a NCAA provisional-qualifying 20.33, his top time of the season.
The men's 400 medley relay team of Bayata, Yearwood, Gustavsson, Kleiner won the 400 medley relay, UC's second relay win in two tries during the meet. The Bearcats also won the 200 freestyle relay on day one.
The men are currently fourth with 14 remaining events.
Preliminaries start on Friday at 10 a.m. CT with seven finals scheduled to start at 6 p.m. CT.
