HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of Cincinnati Indoor Track and Field team finished fifth at the Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships today at the Yeoman Fieldhouse in Houston, Texas.
Renee Hein was the Bearcats' lone event champion, winning the high jump in a jump off with a 5' 8-1/2" mark. She beat out Houston's Krystal Ward and Southern Miss' Krista Miller at a school-record 5' 9-1/2". Hein has won the high jump in five of the six meets she has entered this season.
UC's high scorer, Jo Young, placed second in the weight throw (58' 4-3/4") and third in the shot put (48' 6-1/4"), accumulating 14 of the Bearcats' 57 team points.
UC's fifth-place finish is six spots better than last season, when the Bearcats finished 11th at the C-USA Championships.
UC's NCAA qualifiers will take part in the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 11-12 in Fayetteville, Ark.
