Ann Degenstein qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 100 and 200 butterfly

CINCINNATI, Ohio ? University of Cincinnati junior swimmer Ann Degenstein (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) will represent the Bearcats at the 2005 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. on March 17-19. Degenstein, who qualified with the 17th-fastest time in the nation in the 200 butterfly, was a provisional qualifier in both butterfly events last season, but did not compete at the NCAA meet.

Degenstein, the Conference USA champion in both the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle, holds conference records in the 100 and 200 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. She will compete in both butterfly events and has the option to compete in the 500 freestyle.

The schedule of events for the 2005 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Purdue University, favors Degenstein. The 500 freestyle will be held on March 17, while the 100 butterfly will be held on March 18 and the 200 butterfly on March 19. Preliminaries will begin at 11 a.m. CT each morning with finals starting at 7 p.m.
