MADISON, Ill.---Adam Fluty shot two of his lowest three rounds of the season, pacing the University of Cincinnati men?s golf team during day one of the Billiken Invitational. The tournament, hosted by Conference USA foe Saint Louis is being held at the Gateway National Golf Links.
Fluty, who holds a career-best round of 69, opened play on Monday with a round of 70, following that up with a 71 to end day one tied for ninth overall at 141. The junior is at one-under par thus far and finds himself just three strokes off the overall lead.
In the team standings, UC opened with a round of 293, before coming back with a season-best 291 in round two. The total of 584 puts the Bearcats in a tie for ninth place with Wisconsin-Green Bay. Austin Peay leads the team standings at 566.
Three other Bearcats also had season-best days, led by junior John Clodfelder. Clodfelder matched his season-low with a second round 72. Luke Underhill, playing in just the second tournament of his career, shot a career-best 72 in round two. Kyle Pinger opened the event with a career-low 73.
Play wraps up on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of competition. The round gets underway with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT.
