Lauren Buland scored UC's lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Valpraiso at the Indiana Invitational |
The University of Cincinnati women?s soccer team continued its spring season at the Indiana Invitational on April 9 in Bloomington, Indiana. The Bearcats dropped one goal matched to both Indiana and Valparaiso to fall 1-5 on the spring.
In the first match vs. Valparaiso, Lauren Buland (Indianapolis, Ind./ Lawrence Central) scored the lone goal for UC in a 2-1 loss. Dribbling passed her defender, Buland fired a shot passed the Valparaiso keeper.
The Bearcats then took on the host team, Indiana, in a defensive battle. Indiana slid by UC?s defense and scored the only goal of the game, to win 1-0. Sherry Slye (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Roger Bacon) had a solid match in goal for the Bearcats.
?I?m very ambiguous about this past weekend; you want to take something positive out of every spring game,? head coach Meridy Glenn stated. ?To be honest, there are times during the game where we struggle to find positive things but they are all learning lessons. We have a good one-on-one mentality, we just have to build on that and take that into every ball played and every situation.?
The Bearcats will play host to the Blue Chip Showcase on April 16 at Gettler Stadium. UC will take on Vanderbilt at 5 p.m., followed by a match between Louisville and Mississippi at 7 p.m.
