CINCINNATI, Ohio-- The University of Cincinnati men?s basketball program has landed a fifth member to its 2005-06 recruiting class as DeAndre Coleman of Stone Mountain, Ga. inked a National Letter of Intent to join the Bearcats, head coach Bob Huggins announced today.
Coleman, a 6-6, 225-pound small forward, averaged 14.9 points and 8.4 rebounds at Stephenson High School, where he played for coach Kerry Sandifer. Coleman, who earned Georgia All-State honors in Class 5A, also played in the Atlanta All-Star Classic. In that game, Coleman led the East team to an 85-84 win with a team-best 20 points, and hit the game-winning shot with 10 seconds remaining in the game.
?He is a perimeter guy with great size, similar to James (White) and Armein ( Kirkland). We are hoping he can gain more strength so he can build on his game at the college level,? said Huggins. ?He is a wide-body wing player with good ball skills.?
Coleman joins UC?s four signees from last November, which included three prep standouts; Devan Downey (5-10, G, Chester, S.C.), Tyree Evans (6-3, G, Richmond, Va.), and Abdul Herrera (6-10, C, Miami, Fla.), along with junior college transfer Cedric McGowan (6-7, F, Miami, Fla.) from Kilgore College in Texas.
