CINCINNATI, Ohio---The University of Cincinnati baseball program has added Cincinnati-native Kyle Rapp to its signing class for next season, head coach Brian Cleary announced. Rapp, a left-handed pitcher and outfielder will join the Bearcats from Wabash Valley College.
Rapp attended Milford High School before embarking on his junior college career at Wabash. Rapp has twice been drafted as a pitcher by the Los Angeles Dodgers, once following his senior year of high school (48th round) and again last year (44th round).
?We are obviously thrilled to add Kyle to our program,? stated Cleary. ?He is another top local player who has decided to join us at UC. We have followed Kyle through his high school and junior college career and we think he will be an asset to our program. He comes from a great high school program and we anticipate him continuing to succeed with us.?
During his prep career, Rapp was twice named a first-team all-conference selection, as well as earning all-city recognition. As a senior, Rapp led his team to the Greater Miami Conference Championship and a runner-up finish in the state tournament.
At Wabash, Rapp led the Warriors to a 30-12 record last season, capped off by a Great Rivers Athletic Conference Championship.
Rapp is the latest addition to a Bearcat signing class that includes Steve Blevins (Louisa, Ky./Lawrence Country), Keith Kampe (Rochester Hills, Mich./Pontiac Notre Dame), Cory Hodskins (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay), Kyle Meeker (Cincinnati, Ohio/McNicholas), Jon Niese (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance Senior), Dan Osterbrock (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) and Adam Yeager (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington).
