CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Members of the University of Cincinnati men's soccer team and their coaching staff stepped off the field and into the kitchen to cook a meal for children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House on April 12.
The Bearcat student-athletes and coaches made tacos and baked chocolate chip cookies for the families at the house, located just west of the Cincinnati Zoo on Erkenbrecher Drive.
"It was a great experience for the team to be able to give back to the community," said assistant coach Dan Ensley. "We look forward to continuing to nurture the relationship with the Cincinnati community through service."
Ronald McDonald House Charities offers support for families of children who are being treated at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and other local medical centers, providing a place for families to sleep, eat and meet others facing similar circumstances. The Ronald McDonald House is supported by local businesses, McDonald's restaurant owners and operators, and a large base of volunteers.
"It was great for the team to get out and get involved with the community," senior captain Matt Hayden stated. "Helping those families really opened our eyes and made us all realize how lucky we are."
