Kenny Anaba scored two goals in UC's 5-0 win against Bowling Green

CINCINNATI, Ohio- Kenny Anaba (Westerville, Ohio/ Worthington Christian) and Matt Hayden (Colorado Springs, Colo./ Liberty) each scored a pair of goals, while Kwame Sarkodie (Dayton, Ohio/Carroll) added a goal and three assists to pace the University of Cincinnati men?s soccer team to a 5-0 victory against Bowling Green on April 20 at Gettler Stadium. UC improves to 2-1-3 this spring.

The Bearcats have now outscored Bowling Green, 11-0, in their last two meetings, including a 6-0 UC victory during the 2004 regular season.

UC opened up the scoring early in the first half of play. Anaba headed a ball off of a rebound from a shot fired by Sarkodie that bounced off the top of the net. The second goal came soon after, as Hayden took a cross from Mike Dwyer (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Summit Country Day), beat his defender and blasted a shot past the Falcon keeper. Hayden scored again just minutes later after Sarkodie found him in the open. He easily slid a shot past the BG keeper, staking UC to a 3-0 halftime lead.

The second half of the match saw even more enthusiasm as the Bearcats scored their fourth goal of the game eight minutes in. Anaba earned his second goal of the match as he and Sarkodie connected again to widen the margin to 4-0. The Falcons? only threat of the day came on a breakaway, which was saved by Bearcat goalkeeper Aaron Collins (Dayton, Ohio/ Carroll).

The final goal of the day was scored by Sarkodie, who fired a line drive into the upper right hand corner of the Falcon goal, ending any hope of a BG comeback.

?Offensively we played really well. It?s good to score five goals and a lot of players got valuable playing experience,? head coach Hylton Dayes commented. ?This gave us confidence and we want to build on that and gain experience as a team.?

The Bearcats will take on Oakland in the Blue Chip Showcase on Saturday at the Xavier Soccer Complex in Cincinnati. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
