FT. WORTH, Texas --- The University of Cincinnati women?s tennis team was defeated in the first round of the Conference USA tournament in Ft. Worth, Texas on Thursday. The 13th-seeded Bearcats lost to the four-seed Houston, 4-0.
There was little for the Bearcats to smile about as Houston won five matches easily. Houston senior Biljana Dimovska defeated Cristina Reyes handily at the number one singles spot, winning 6-2, 6-1. The match-up between Houston?s Diana Martin and Cincinnati?s Samantha Liu ended with the same result with Martin taking the win 6-2, 6-1.
The Bearcats need to win against 11th-seeded Marquette to stay alive in the double-elimination tournament. The match will be played at 9 a.m. CT on Friday, April 22.
