MORGANTOWN, W.Va.---Taking on a future BIG EAST opponent in West Virginia, the University of Cincinnati rowing team swept all three races in a head-to-head regatta held on Saturday in Morgantown.
The Bearcats? most dominant performance came in the novice eight race, where UC was victorious by nearly a minute. Cincinnati turned in a 7:37 to WVU?s 8:30. UC also finished second in the novice eight competition.
In the premier race of the day, the varsity eight, the Bearcats took first place in a time of 7:19, bettering West Virginia?s mark of 7:26.
?Today was a great regatta for us against a future BIG EAST opponent,? said Bearcat head coach Tim Royalty. ?Our novice eight was dominating and our varsity eight rowed a good race as well. We are looking forward to competing in regionals in two weeks.?
As mentioned, the Bearcats will now be idle until May 14-15 when they travel to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the NCAA Midwest Regionals.
