Ivan Johnson is the second member of Bob Huggins' spring recruiting class.

CINCINNATI, Ohio-- The University of Cincinnati men?s basketball program has added a sixth member to its 2005-06 recruiting class as Ivan Johnson, a 6-8 , 255-pound power forward from Los Angeles Southwest College, inked a National Letter of Intent to join the Bearcats, head coach Bob Huggins announced today.

Johnson earned All-State accolades in the California Junior College system after averaging 22.3 points, which was eighth in the state, 12.2 rebounds, which led the California JUCO ranks, and 2.4 blocked shots while leading LA Southwest College to an appearance in the state regional finals.

A native of San Antonio, Texas, Johnson proved to be an outstanding offensive player to go along with his rebounding prowess. He shot 56 percent from the field, 77 percent from the free throw line, and also connected on 36 percent from three-point range. Johnson led the Cougars to a 19-10 record this past season while playing for head coach Reggie Morris.

?Ivan is a big, strong physical guy who can rebound the basketball. He?s the kind of a player we need,? said Huggins. ?He is also a good passer with an excellent understanding of the game.?

Johnson is the second spring signee for the Bearcats, joining DeAndre Coleman, the 6-6 forward from Stone Mountain, Ga., who signed last month. Johnson and Coleman join UC?s four signees from last November, which included three prep standouts; Devan Downey (5-10, G, Chester, S.C.), Tyree Evans (6-3, G, Richmond, Va.), and Abdul Herrera (6-10, C, Miami, Fla.), along with junior college transfer Cedric McGowan (6-7, F, Miami, Fla.) from Kilgore College in Texas.
