Schnier, Payne Earn All-Decade Honors

IRVING, Texas -- University of Cincinnati head men's track and field coach Bill Schnier and former track and field athlete David Payne have earned spots on the Conference USA Track and Field All-Decade Team announced today by the league office.
Payne, a two-time All-American, earned C-USA Co-Athlete of the Year accolades in 2004 after winning both the 110 and 400 meter hurdle titles at the C-USA Outdoor Championships. Payne holds school records in both hurdling events and won three C-USA championships during his career.
Schnier was named Coach of the Decade after leading the Bearcats to three C-USA championships in the first nine years of competition. He was named C-USA Coach of the Year three times (2004, 2001, 1996) and also garnered C-USA Cross Country Coach of the Decade honors.
Conference USA is celebrating its 10th anniversary during the 2004-05 season. In conjunction, the league is naming a Team of the Decade for each of the conference?s 19 sports. Voting is done by coaches from the schools in the conference.
