DALLAS, Texas---Logan Parker, who had a monster performance for the University of Cincinnati baseball team last week, has been named Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week. He shares the honor with Southern Miss' Marc Maddox.
Parker (Odessa, Texas/Permian) hit .619 (13-for-21) in the Bearcats? five games last week. Among Parker?s 13 hits were five doubles and two home runs, along with nine RBI. Against C-USA foe Memphis, Parker opened the series with a pair of home runs in Friday?s series opening victory and backed that up with his first-career five-hit game a day later. For the week, Parker tallied at least one extra-base hit and one RBI in each of the Bearcats? contests, helping UC to a 3-2 record for the week.
This season, Parker, a transfer from New Mexico Junior College, ranks third on the team with a .316 batting average, while leading the team with 19 doubles and 49 RBI. His 10 homers are tied for team-high honors with Brian Szarmach.
The Bearcats, 24-27 on the year, will travel to USF this weekend in search of the eighth and final berth in the C-USA Tournament. UC must win all three games vs. the Bulls to qualify for next week?s tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. Cincinnati will wrap up the home schedule tomorrow night, hosting Eastern Kentucky at 6:30 p.m.
