Erik Eitel?s RBI single scored Jon DeLuca with the Bearcats? only run of the night. Jim Olds also singled in the inning, improving upon his career-best hit streak that has now reached 11 games. Kris Howell got the Bulls on the scoreboard early as his two-run single in the first staked the home team to a 2-0 lead. Jeff Baisley was the hero in the third inning as he drilled his eighth homer of the year to left with a man on.
The fifth inning brought the end of the line for Maynard as Brian Baisley?s RBI single made it 5-0 and he was replaced by Kyle Markle with two men still on base. Brandin Daniel continued the scoring run with an RBI single, just prior to Dexter Butler?s sacrifice fly.
On the mound, Hudspeth was keeping the Bearcat bats in check, allowing just three walks and a hit by pitch in the first six innings. The USF sophomore recorded three strikeouts and walked three in eight innings of work.
USF rounded out its scoring in the seventh on an RBI double by Butler and a run-scoring triple by Ty Taborelli.
