CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati released Thursday several non-conference football opponents for future Bearcat schedules, highlighted by series? with Virginia Tech and N.C. State, plus a pair of games with Eastern Kentucky. UC also announced a pair of long-range dates involving intrastate rival Ohio State.

UC and Virginia Tech will resume its rivalry next year when the Bearcats visit the Hokies on Sept. 23, 2006. Virginia Tech, which moved to the Atlantic Coast Conference last year, returns the game to Cincinnati in 2009 when the Bearcats host the Hokies at Nippert Stadium on either Sept. 3 or Sept. 5. UC and Virginia Tech began a series back in 1946 and have played seven times with UC leading 4-3. The last meeting between the two teams was in 1995 when the Bearcats went to Blacksburg and shutout the Hokies, 16-0.

The Bearcats have never played N.C. State. That series will begin in Raleigh on Sept. 4, 2010, and then the Wolfpack will return the game to Cincinnati and play at Nippert Stadium in 2011 on Sept. 3 or Sept. 5. UC will host Eastern Kentucky two times in the next three seasons, beginning with the 2006 season-opener on either Aug. 31 or Sept. 2. The Bearcats and Colonels will also play in Cincinnati on Sept.4 or Sept. 6 in 2008.

?We are pleased with our non-conference schedules for the coming years. Besides the always tough and challenging BIG EAST schedule, we are playing quality non-league opponents,? said UC head coach Mark Dantonio. ?I think it will also be exciting for our fans to see teams like Virginia Tech, N.C. State, and of course, Ohio State, come to Cincinnati and play.?

The Bearcats and Buckeyes, who play in Columbus on Sept. 15, 2006, will also play two more times in future years. Ohio State will return to Cincinnati on Sept. 8, 2012, while UC heads back to Columbus on Sept. 6, 2014.

This season the Bearcats make their BIG EAST Conference debut, and the home schedule includes league foes Connecticut (Oct. 15), Louisville (Oct. 22) and West Virginia in a nationally-televised game (ESPN2) on Wednesday, Nov. 9. UC opens its 2005 season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Nippert Stadium against Eastern Michigan before hosting Western Carolina on Sept. 17, leading up to league play in October.

Season tickets are on sale now for Bearcat football by calling the UC Athletic Ticket Office at 513-556-CATS. Fans can also order tickets online at www.UCBearcats.com.
