Former UC assistant coach Jeff Ditch |
CINCINNATI, Ohio---Former University of Cincinnati assistant baseball coach Jeff Ditch has been named the head coach at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The appointment is the first head coaching position of his long career.
Ditch served on current head coach Brian Cleary's staff from 1999-2003, filling the role of pitching coach and recruiting coordinator. He left UC to take an assistant position at West Virginia in 2004, before spending last spring at junior college power Young Harris College in Georgia.
"I think first and foremost that Jeff is a tremendous guy," Cleary said. "The players, staff, administration and community will quickly find that out about him.
"Second, he pays great attention to detail and has a tremendous work ethic. He has an extreme passion for coaching baseball. The players will soon realize what an outstanding teacher they have.
"Finally, Jeff is very competitive. He'll work hard in recruiting and get great players who will develop under his teaching and succeed once they hit the field."
