CINCINNATI, Ohio - Dustin Grutza, who led the University of Cincinnati's season opening game win over Eastern Michigan, has been named BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Grutza passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third in the Bearcats' 28-26 victory. The redshirt freshman from Maysville, Ky., playing in his first college game, completed 17 of 26 passes for 176 yards. He directed scoring drives on UC's first two possession, tossing a 10-yard touchdown pass to Antwuan Giddens and connecting with Greg Moore for a 38-yard scoring play.

Grutza, who finished with 49 yards rushing, scored on a 21-yard run in the third quarter.

Elvis Dumervil, whose school-record six sacks and two forced fumbles keyed Louisville's 31-24 win over Kentucky, was named Defensive Player of the Week. Larry Taylor, who averaged 23.6 yards on five punt returns and had a 43-yard kickoff return in Connecticut's 38-0 win over Buffalo, earned BIG EAST Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
