CINCINNATI, Ohio---Tom Higgins, who served as the head baseball coach at the University of Cincinnati from 1983-86, passed away unexpectedly over the Labor Day Weekend. He was 58 years old.

Higgins won 85 games during his four-year tenure, the fourth highest total in school history. His 1985 squad posted a then school record 29 wins, a mark that stood until 1988. Higgins also coached in the high school ranks, recording nearly 300 victories during his career.

Viewing for Higgins is scheduled for today (Sept. 7) from 4-8 p.m. at the Hodapp Funeral Home, located at 8815 Cincinnati-Columbus Rd. (U.S. 42) in West Chester. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday (Sept. 8) at 10 a.m. at St. Xavier Church, 607 Sycamore St., Downtown.
