HONOLULU, Hawaii---No. 7 Hawai'i held Cincinnati to a season-low .088 hitting as the Rainbow Wahine scored a three-game sweep of the Bearcats on Thursday night. The match, held as part of the Waikiki Beach Marriott Challenge, was played in front of 6,251 spectators at UH's Stan Sheriff Center.

Hawai'i (3-3) was victorious by scores of 30-21, 30-17, 30-22. The Bearcats dropped their third straight contest to fall to 1-3 on the young season.

Senior Maria Pongonis had her third double-double of the year for the Bearcats, totalling a team-best 13 kills and adding 12 digs. Hawai'i was able to contain Pongonis, however, as she hit just .068 for the match. Jenny Custer added eight kills for UC, while setter Noel Olson handed out 27 assists.

Cincinnati's defense was paced by freshman libero Melissa Zenz, who continued her strong early season play with a match-best 20 digs. In just four matches this season, Zenz has totaled at least 20 digs in all but one contest.

Susie Boogaard led the Hawai'i attack with team-highs of 15 kills and 13 digs. Setter Kanoe Kamana`o dished out 46 assists and added 12 digs. Hawai'i, which hit .323 for the match, played a total of 15 players in the contest.

The Bearcats will try to get back on the winning track when they return to the court today at 4:30 p.m. HT. The task won't be easy for UC, as they must take on No. 10 UCLA, who earned a 3-0 sweep of Cal State Northridge on Thursday.
