SETTING THE SCENE: The University of Cincinnati women's golf team returns to the links for the second time this week when they compete in the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic, hosted by the College of Charleston. The three-day, 54-hole event gets underway on Friday (Sept. 23) from the Bay Tree Golf Plantation, Green Course in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: A total of 16 teams will converge on the Bay Tree Golf Plantation for the 2005 edition of the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic. The event is being hosted by the College of Charleston and also includes squads from Ball State, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Florida International, Methodist, Middle Tennessee State, Newberry, Old Dominion, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Texas-Pan American, Tusculum, Western Michigan and William and Mary. A total of 54 holes will be played over three days on the Green Course of the Plantation. North Carolina-Wilmington is the defending champion of the event, while Cincinnati is coming off a ninth place finish at last year's tournament.

LAST TIME OUT: Hillery Wilson earned her first top-10 of the season as a final round 76 propelled her to a ninth place finish at the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup. Wilson finished the tournament with a score of 231, including back-to-back rounds of 76. The sophomore finished just three strokes out of eighth and eight away from a top-five finish. In the team standings, the Bearcats concluded the tournament 11th, the same position they held through 36 holes, after combining for a final round 323. With a total of 972, UC finished 10 shots behind 10th place Southern Miss.

NEW BLOOD: One of the biggest surprises for the Bearcats during the Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup was the play of freshman Marianne Erb. After making the team as a walk-on, Erb shot final rounds of 80 and 81 to end up third among UC's scored players. Erb will bring an 82.7 average into this week's Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic.

WHERE SHE LEFT OFF: Sophomore Hillery Wilson, a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team last season, picked up where she left off in the Bearcats' opening tournament of 2005. After earning team medalist honors in five of nine tournaments as a freshman, Wilson scored her first of the new year with a ninth place finish. Wilson earned the top-10 with consecutive rounds of 76 after opening with a 79.
