NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team dropped its third straight match, falling, 4-0, at Notre Dame, the defending national champion, tonight at Alumni Field. The Bearcats fall to 2-5-2 on the season and 0-2-0 in the BIG EAST while Notre Dame, ranked sixth in the country, improves to 8-1-0 and 2-0-0.

The Fighting Irish scored twice in each half, and outshot the Bearcats, 27-3.

In the 16th minute, Notre Dame opened the scoring as Carrie Dew collected the ball inside the box and beat UC keeper Sherry Slye (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon). Annie Schefter and Amanda Cinalli were credited with assists on the tally. The Irish extended the lead in the 40th minute as Brittany Bock headed in a pass from Kerri Hanks to make it 2-0.

Hanks put the match away with two goals in a six minute span in the second half. After a long pass from Candace Chapman, Hanks flicked a header past Slye for her BIG EAST-leading 14th goal of the season in the 70th minute. Her 15th goal came just six minutes later as she scored on a rebounded Amanda Cinalli shot. Cinalli earned her second assist of the match on the goal.

Notre Dame has outscored its opponents, 45-5, this season.

UC Head coach Meridy Glenn was pleased with her team's effort despite the score. "We had a gameplan and we stuck to it," Glenn said. "The effort was there and our kids were ready to play. They (Notre Dame) are very good attackers, they are quick on the ball and quick to shoot."

The Bearcats return home to take on former Conference USA foe, DePaul, on Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. in Gettler Stadium.
