CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team snapped a three-match losing streak with a 0-0 tie against former Conference USA opponent DePaul this afternoon at Gettler Stadium. The Bearcats move to 2-5-3 overall and 0-2-1 in BIG EAST play. DePaul is now 2-5-2, with a 0-2-1 BIG EAST ledger.

Playing in its third match in six days, Cincinnati's tired legs showed as the ball was batted back and forth through the midfield for most of the match. The Bearcats were outshot, 19-14, but Sherry Slye (Cincinnati, Ohio/Roger Bacon) made a career-high 12 saves to earn her third shutout of the season.

Both teams had several quality opportunities, but were unable to find the net. DePaul's Cara LaRocca and Sarah West combined to post 110 minutes of shutout play in goal.

The Blue Demons took five corner kicks to UC's one and had 15 fouls to UC's eight.

"Obviously, we wanted to get a goal and win this match," said head coach Meridy Glenn. "Both teams were getting tired, we knew it was going to be a little bit ugly. Today was just pure will."

The Bearcats had been 9-0-0 all time against DePaul, who, like UC, is in its first season as a member of the BIG EAST.

UC will return to the road for two BIG EAST matches next weekend. The Bearcats will take on No. 18 Connecticut on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. and then head to Providence for a 1 p.m. match-up against the Friars on Oct. 2.
