SCARSDALE, N.Y.---Geoff Newman finished in the top-five and Adam Fluty shot a final round 70 to lead the University of Cincinnati men's golf to a third place finish at The 2005 Tillinghast, which concluded late Tuesday.
Newman carded a round two score of 72 to finish fifth and tally his second straight top-five finish. Fluty overcame an opening round 82 to end tied for 14th, matching his low round of the year along the way.
In the team standings, UC combined for a round two score of 300 to end the tournament in third place at 609. BIG EAST rival and tournament host St. John's took the team title with a 591, while another BIG EAST member, Villanova, took second at 602.
The Bearcats wrap up the fall portion of their schedule on Nov. 5-6, competing in the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
