BATAVIA, Ohio---On a cold, windy, rainy day at the Elks Run Golf Course, the University of Cincinnati women's golf team ended day one of its Fall Classic in third place in the team standings. Sophomore standouts Hillery Wilson and Allison Mayborg helped the Bearcats to third by ending the first day in the top-five.
Wilson is leading the way for Cincinnati, tied for second after an opening round 74. Mayborg is just two shots back of her teammate in a tie for fourth. Toledo's Tammy Clelland holds a one stroke lead over Wilson and Meghan LeBlanc of Bradley after shooting a 73 on Monday.
Toledo, with three players in the top-10, holds a three-shot lead in the chase for the team title with a day one score of 310. Bradley trails the Rockets by three strokes, with the Bearcats in third with a 322. UC is also fielding a "B" squad in the tournament and that group of Bearcats is eighth after a first round 375.
The Cincinnati Fall Classic will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18 holes of play. Action will get underway at Elks Run at 9 a.m.
