ELKHART, Ind.---The University of Cincinnati rowing team placed three of its four crews in the top-10 as the Bearcats competed in the Head of the Elk, held Sunday on the St. Joseph River in Elkhart, Ind.
UC's third eight crew turned in the best result, winning its race with a time of 16:06.47. Mary Locke was the coxswain of the crew that included Julie Idoine, Joy Kramer, Jennifer Wagner, Beth Murphy, Beth Schoenfeld, Stephanie Bell, Ashley Wolff and Lydia Mikenas.
The Bearcat second eight crew also enjoyed a stellar day as the boat of coxswain Andrea Hedlund, along with Alison Place, Emily Fox, Lisa Teague, Lindsey Kemna, Jessica Beebe, Emily Knaus, Anna Muller and Jennifer Hales finished second in 15:08.11.
In the first eight competition, the Bearcats finished eighth with a time of 15:25.16. Cincinnati's second four crew wound up seventh with a mark of 19:07.86.
The Bearcats will conclude the fall portion of their schedule on Nov. 13, competing in the Rivanna Romp in Charlottesville, Va.
