Ernst Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati sophomore defender Gigi Ernst (Plain City, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) has been named a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

Ernst, an accounting major, holds a 3.92 GPA. She is the first Bearcat since Rachel Lieberman in 2003 to earn All-District honors.

Ernst started 17 of 18 matches this season along the backline. She helped the Bearcats post four shutouts in 2005, including a 1-0 victory at Providence, UC's first BIG EAST Conference win.

District IV consists of all NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The CoSIDA Academic All-America team will be named on Nov. 21.
