CINCINNATI, Ohio -- University of Cincinnati senior midfielder Matt Hayden (Colorado Springs, Colo./Liberty) has been named a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree. As an all-district choice in District IV, Hayden is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

Hayden, a finance major, holds a 3.85 GPA. This is his second consecutive All-District selection and the third of his career. He also earned academic accolades in 2002 and 2004. He joins Mike Shingleton as the only Bearcat to be honored three times in their career.

After missing the first four matches of the season due to injury, Hayden has started 10 of the last 14 matches in the midfield, posting two assists on the season. A captain in 2005, Hayden has appeared in 66 matches, making 34 starts in his career. He has scored four goals and added 11 assists for 19 career points and has two game-winning goals to his credit.

District IV consists of all NCAA Division I universities in Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. The CoSIDA Academic All-America team will be named on Nov. 21.
