PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Redshirt freshman Jessie Nevitt received yet another accolade on Monday as she was named the BIG EAST Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the fifth time. Nevitt led the Bearcats to a pair of conference road victories over the weekend to secure the award.

For the week, Nevitt (Kennesaw, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) averaged 4.50 kills, 1.17 digs and 1.00 blocks per game, while hitting an eye-popping .615. For the second time in 2005, Nevitt achieved one of the top five single-match hitting performances in school history, when she hit .652 in a win over South Florida. In the contest, she tied for match-high honors with 16 kills and added three solo blocks. In a victory against Georgetown, Nevitt totaled 11 kills on .562 hitting and added three blocks.

This season, Nevitt ranks third on the squad with 3.14 kills per game and is third in the BIG EAST with 1.38 blocks per game. She is also hitting a team-best .351, which also ranks third in the BIG EAST.

The Bearcats (18-8, 9-3 BIG EAST) return to the court for a trio of key contests this week, in the final action before the BIG EAST Tournament. UC travels to Dayton for a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt on Tuesday. The squad is back in BIG EAST action with a pair of home contests against Syracuse (Friday, 7:30 p.m.) and Marquette (Sunday, 2 p.m.) this weekend.
