COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Redshirt freshman Jessie Nevitt added to her list of accolades once more as she earned a spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) All-Northeast Region squad which was announced on Wednesday.

The most recent recognition adds to an already lengthy list of awards for Nevitt, who enjoyed a breakout season in 2005. Nevitt was named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year, while also earning a spot on the league's all-conference first team. During the season, Nevitt picked up the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week award five times, matching the league record for a single year.

Nevitt wrapped up her first season of collegiate competition leading the Bearcats in both hitting (.337) and blocks per game (1.38), ranking among the BIG EAST top-five in both categories. She was also third on the Bearcats in kills per game (3.11), while ranking second with 40 service aces.

UC concluded the 2005 season with its 11th consecutive 20-win season, as the Bearcats posted a 20-12 overall mark. Cincinnati finished the regular season tied for fourth in the BIG EAST, before advancing to the tournament semi-finals in its inaugural year as a member of the league.
