CINCINNATI, Ohio--University of Cincinnati redshirt freshman Jessie Nevitt added yet another distinction to her list of accolades when she was selected as one of the nation's rising stars by Collegiate Volleyball Update.

Nevitt and 14 other freshman from across the country were tabbed after enjoying outstanding first campaigns, while also showing the promise for more success during their career. She was the only player from the BIG EAST and the state of Ohio to be named to the list.

The 6-2, Kennesaw, Ga.-native enjoyed a lengthy list of awards in her first season of competition, including being named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Year and earning a slot on the league's all-conference first team. She was also a first team all-region selection by the AVCA and an honorable mention All-American. During the season, Nevitt picked up the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week award five times, matching the league record for a single year.

Nevitt wrapped up the season leading the Bearcats in both hitting (.337) and blocks per game (1.38), ranking among the BIG EAST top-five in both categories. She was also third on the Bearcats in kills per game (3.11), while ranking second with 40 service aces.
