The University of Cincinnati tennis team opens its spring dual season with a pair of contests this weekend. UC will first take on Ohio State on Saturday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center. The Bearcats then face Miami (Ohio) on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Racquet Club in Hamilton.
This will be the opening of the spring season for the Buckeyes as well, as they are led by freshman Angela DiPastina, who had 10 victories in the fall. The RedHawks are 0-1 this year after falling to No. 32 Indiana.
The Bearcats were led in the fall by freshmen Carling Arundel and Jenny Rowen, as well as senior Jill Klauck, who all posted five wins. UC will welcome the return of last year's top player, Hannah Hinton, who missed the fall season due to injury.
Third-year head coach Kimberly Jones led the Bearcats to a 5-16 mark last year and welcomes back three starters and four lettewinners from that squad. The five freshmen on the team is the largest class of newcomers in her tenure.
