WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Poor shooting and defensive lapses took their toll as Cincinnati lost at Georgetown 76-57, in BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday.

James White scored 22 points in making a return to his hometown area and Eric Hicks added 13, but the rest of the Bearcats could not find much offense as UC dropped its fifth game in its last six outings.

The loss dropped Cincinnati to 14-7 overall and 3-4 in BIG EAST play. Georgetown, ranked No. 21 by the Associated Press, is now 14-4 and 5-2. The game was the first ever between the two schools.

Sophomore forward Jeff Green led the Hoyas with 20 points with Brandon Bowman and Jonathan Wallace contributing 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Georgetown jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first eight minutes of the game and was never threatened. The Hoyas had a 36-20 lead at the half. Georgetown shot .571 in the second half and led by as many as 27.

The Bearcats contributed to their woes, shooting just .242 in the first half, and finished the game with a .350 field goal percentage. Georgetown's 6-8, 6-8, 7-2 front line put a premium on UC's ability to score from the perimeter. UC failed to respond to the challenge. Guards Devan Downey (0-5), Jihad Muhammad (1-10) and Chadd Moore (1-5) combined for 2-of-20 shooting.

Cincinnati will try to snap its two-game losing streak hosting USF on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Tipoff is 8 p.m.
