Bellman Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- University of Cincinnati guard Shelly Bellman was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Monday for the week ending January 29.

Bellman led the Bearcats in their 87-68 win over Georgetown last week with 26 points and seven rebounds. She made 10-of-13 shots from the field, including both three-point tries. Bellman, who scored 28 points two games earlier, also added two steals and two assists. For the year the Ottawa, Ohio native is second on the Bearcats in scoring (11.0 ppg) and leads the team in rebounds (6.1 rpg).

The Bearcats, who have won three of their last four games, travel to face Seton Hall on Wednesday before hosting Pittsburgh on Saturday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast live on WXIX Fox 19.
