SETTING THE SCENE: The University of Cincinnati women's golf team will be out to continue its success of the fall when it opens the second half of the 2005-06 schedule at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. After finishing in the top three of the last two tournaments of the fall, including a victory at the Dayton Fall Invitational, the Bearcats will be one of 13 teams vying for the UCF Invitational title.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT: The eighth annual UCF Invitational will be played beginning on Monday (Feb. 6) at the Stoneybrook Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The 36-hole, two-day tournament will feature 13 squads, including the Bearcats and host Golden Knights. Rounding out the field will be squads from Daytona Beach CC, Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida International, Florida Southern, Jacksonville, Mercer, Rollins, South Alabama, Stetson and Texas Tech. Georgia State won last year's event, while Florida Southern's Pamela Feggans was the individual champion.

LAST TIME OUT: Hillery Wilson won her second straight tournament with a school record round and the Bearcats captured their first team title since 1999, winning the Dayton Fall Invitational at the NCR Country Club on Oct. 31, 2005. Wilson won the tournament by two strokes with a career-best round of 69.

The team standings showed Cincinnati on top by one stroke over Toledo with a season-best round of 295. The tournament title was the first for the Bearcats since winning the Illini Spring Classic in the spring of 1999. UC also fielded a "B" squad in the event, which finished fifth.

Freshman Chelsa Dooley led three other UC players in the top-10 as she tied for fifth with a 74. Mya Pronschinske matched her career-low for the second straight event with a 75, good for eighth place. Sarah Bires also had a career day, tying for ninth with a 76.

WHERE SHE LEFT OFF: Hillery Wilson closed the first half of the 2005-06 season playing the best golf of her collegiate career as the sophomore won three of the final four tournaments of the fall schedule. Wilson was at her best at the Dayton Fall Invitational on Oct. 31, 2005 as her round of 69 was the lowest ever recorded by a UC golfer, breaking Shelley Jonda's mark by two strokes. Wilson, a member of the Conference USA All-Freshman Team last season, also captured medalist honors at the Krump Kup and the Cincinnati Fall Classic to give her four tournament wins for her career. She added a second place finish at the Unlimited Potential/Bay Tree Classic. Wilson leads the Bearcats with a 74.7 average and is shooting 77.0 for her career.
