CINCINNATI, Ohio - The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team has added seven student-athletes to its roster for the 2006 season. Ohio products Stephanie Brindle, Sherry Lyle, and Heather Neiser will join Melissa Bigg, Lisa Clark, Andrea Kaminski, and Erin MacDonald at UC to continue their academic and athletic careers in the fall of 2006.
"We have a group of great midfielders in this class," head coach Meridy Glenn commented. "When you watch them, their feet never stop. They are all very skillfull and creative. We also filled out our goalkeeper position with some big, athletic keepers. I am excited about what these athletes will bring to the team."
Bigg, a 5-6 midfielder, led Acton High School to two conference finals during her career. The Limehouse, Ontario, native helped the Erin Mills Eagles club team to the Canadian National Championship in 2005. The daughter of Andrew and Cidalina Bigg, she plans to major in education. Bigg will wear No. 28 for the Bearcats.
Brindle, a 5-6 midfielder, was a three-time letterwinner at Pickerington North High School, where she was twice named all-conference. A native of Pickerington, Ohio, she led CESA F.C. to the Superclubs National Championship in 2004. The daughter of Bob and Lana Brindle, she plans to major in nursing and is a finalist for the prestigious Cincinnatus Scholarship. Brindle will wear No. 21 at UC.
Clark is a 5-3 midfielder from Alexandria, Va. She was a four-year starter at T.C. Williams High School and a two-time all-district honoree. She is a member of the Sterling NOVA Pride club team that advanced to the State Cup semi-finals in 2004 and 2005. She is also a member of the Virginia Olympic Development Program state team. The daughter of James Clark and Julia Porter, she plans to major in architecture. Clark will don the No. 25 uniform when she takes the field for the Bearcats.
Kaminski, a 5-8 goalkeeper, was a four-time all-conference selection at Noblesville High School, where she earned first team all-state honors as a senior. She posted a 0.69 goals against average over her four-year career. The Noblesville, Ind. native played for the Indianapolis Dynamo club team and was a member of the Indiana Olympic Development Program state team. The daughter of Brian and Julie Kaminski, she has been accepted into the school of arts and sciences. Kaminski will wear No. 0 at UC.
Lyle is a 5-8 goalkeeper from Gahanna, Ohio. She was a four-year letterwinner at Westerville North, leading the Warriors to the conference championship as a sophomore, when she posted 10 shutouts and a 0.06 goals against average. She was named a first team all-conference selection and earned conference player of the year honors after her senior year and earned team MVP honors three times. Lyle played for both the NCAA Blast and Cincinnati Classics Hammer club teams. The daughter of Lester and Jackie Lyle, she plans to major in secondary education. Lyle will wear No. 30 for UC.
MacDonald, a 5-11 forward, played for the St. Catharines Jets for nine years. A St. Catharines, Ontario, native, MacDonald started for the U-16 Ontario provincial team, helping the squad to the 2004 Canadian National Championship. The daughter of Doug and Charlene MacDonald, she plans to major in communication disorders. MacDonald will wear No. 22.
Neiser, a 5-4 midfielder from Batavia, Ohio, led St. Ursula Academy to the state finals as a senior, earning all-conference honors along the way. She played the last nine years for the Cincinnati Classics Hammer club team, winning State Cup championships in 2000 and 2004. Neiser, a member of the Ohio South Olympic Development state team, is the daughter of Raymond and Donna Neiser and plans to major in nursing. She will wear No. 6 for the Bearcats.
