GAINESVILLE, Fla.---No. 1 Florida scored in all but two innings and despite 11 hits by Cincinnati, the Gators rolled to a 20-4 win over the Bearcats on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium. The victory gave Florida the sweep in the season-opening series for both teams.

After falling behind 11-0 after four innings, the UC offense came to life with a three-run fifth inning. With two outs, Adam Calez, Mark Muscenti and Logan Parker all tallied RBI singles for the Bearcats. The Bearcats added their fourth run of the day in the sixth when Josh Harrison knocked home Jon DeLuca with an RBI single.

The Gators had many offensive stars, as Florida battered UC for 14 hits, while drawing nine walks and three hit by pitch. Brian Jeroloman and Gavin Dickey each had four RBI for Florida, with the latter hitting a pair of home runs and Jeroloman tacking on one. Adam Davis finished off an excellent weekend with three hits and two RBI, while Dickey also had three hits. Greg Quatrino added a pinch-hit three-run homer in the ninth for Florida.

A total of seven Florida pitchers took to the mound, with starter J.K. LaCoste picking up the victory. In his first career start, the freshman pitched three shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out two. Glen Simon failed to make it out of the first inning in his first Cincinnati start, taking the defeat for Cincinnati.

The Bearcats are next in action starting Friday, Feb. 17, with a three-game series at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C.
