AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Cincinnati indoor track and field team sits in seventh place after day one of competition at the 2006 BIG EAST Championships which took place on Saturday at the University of Akron Athletics Fieldhouse. Senior Ashley Wilhelm (St. /East Central) was UC's top performer, placing second in the pentathlon and fourth in the long jump.
Wilhelm accounted for all 13 team points for the Bearcats after leaping 18' 7". She bettered her own school record in the pentathlon, scoring an NCAA provisional-qualifying 3,788 points.
Senior Jocelyn Gibson (/Lambton Central) set a school record in the 800 meter preliminaries, qualifying for tomorrow's finals with a 2:12.42.

The BIG EAST Championships conclude Sunday at the Akron Atheltics Fieldhouse, with events kicking off at 11 a.m.
