PROVIDENCE, R.I.---University of Cincinnati junior pitcher Glen Simon has been named BIG EAST Co-Pitcher of the Week after a dominating performance on Sunday at North Carolina A&T. Simon was masterful in shutting out the Aggies for seven innings to become the first UC baseball player to be honored by the BIG EAST.

In just his second start in a Bearcat uniform, Simon (Lake Worth, Fla./John I. Leonard) twirled a three-hit complete game shutout against the Aggies, last season's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champions. Simon struck out a career-high 13 batters in the outing, fanning at least one hitter in all seven frames, including the side in the third. The Florida State transfer retired the first 12 batters he faced and finished the day yielding just three hits and two walks. The victory was his first since beating The Citadel on March 26, 2003 while at FSU.

Simon's performance helped the Bearcats to a doubleheader sweep of the Aggies as UC was victorious by scores of 19-4 and 3-0 to improve to 2-4 on the year. Cincinnati will next be in action this weekend, traveling to High Point for a three-game series. The set will get underway on Friday, with a 2:30 p.m. first pitch at HP's George S. Erath Field.
