MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Christina Quaye scored a game-high 17 points and Marquette handed the University of Cincinnati a 66-48 loss on Tuesday night at the Al McGuire Center in the final game of the 2005-06 regular season for both squads.
Treasure Humphries, who suffered through a rough shooting night, going just 5-of-22 from the field, led the Bearcats with 11 points. Though the shots weren't falling for her, she made up for it with her defensive effort, matching a career-high seven steals. Michelle Jones had 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
Quaye led three Golden Eagles in double figures, hitting on 6-of-8 from the floor and adding five rebounds. Marissa Thrower scored 12 points and Krystal Ellis added 10. held a 39-34 edge on the boards, including a 24-17 advantage on the defensive glass.
The Bearcats opened a 17-4 lead in the first six minutes of the game, as UC forced five turnovers, which resulted in 12 points. On the game's opening possession, Treasure Humphries stole the ball at mid-court and raced the other way for an uncontested layup. A steal by Shelly Bellman and fastbreak layup gave UC a 4-0 lead. Michelle Jones then stole the ball away, leading to a Bellman three that put UC up, 7-2.
After a jumper by Jasmine McCollough cut the lead to 7-4, the Bearcats scored the next 10 points on back-to-back threes by Humphries and and a basket apiece from Humphries and Bellva May.
The Golden Eagles went on a 16-2 run over the next 6:30, holding UC without a basket for over five minutes.
Jones scored all eight points in an 8-4 UC spurt that put the Bearcats back ahead by three with 3:22 left. The Bearcats took a 32-31 lead into halftime.
Humphries led the Bearcats with nine points in the first half. Angel Morgan grabbed five rebounds to pace UC.

opened the second half on a 17-9 run to take a 48-41 lead. The Bearcats went ice cold from the field, hitting on just 5-of-28 shots (.179) in the stanza. UC scored just one point during a 10 minute stretch, in which the Golden Eagles built a 60-42 advantage.
