NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Three Bearcats--Eric Hicks, James White and Devan Downey--have been selected for BIG EAST Conference honors.
Hicks, Cincinnati's 6-6 senior forward, was named to the 11-man All-BIG EAST first team. White, a 6-7 senior, earned honorable mention All-BIG EAST Honors. Downey, UC's 5-10 point guard, was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Rookie Team.
Hicks averaged 14.2 points to rank among the league's top 20 scorers, finished fourth in rebounding (9.3) and second in blocked shots (3.4) after leading the league in the latter category most of the season. The Greensboro, N.C. native also leads the BIG EAST in offensive rebounds.
White, from the Washington, D.C. area, completed the regular season as the No. 11 scorer in the BIG EAST (15.9) and also ranked sixth in field goal percentage (.483) and seventh in free throw percentage (.839).
Downey, who averaged 12.3 points, ranks ninth in assists (4.1), fourth in steals (2.0) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio. The Chester, S.C. product, who took over the starting point guard duties in UC's third game, joined Marquette's Dominic James and DePaul's Wilson Chandler as unanimous selections on the All-Rookie Team.
The teams were selected from a vote of the BIG EAST's 16 head coaches.
